Petra Wright - Biography
Having moved to the USA from Germany, Petra settled in NYC, where she performed Off-Broadway and in several major regional theatres, most notably as 'Varya' opposite 2001:A Space Odyssey star Keir Dulea in Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard". Twice, her stage work garnered her the Golden Seal Award for Best Actress.
Most recently Petra played the title role in Jason Ruscio's film "Laura Smiles", which was released in 2007, after a wide array of festival awards and nominations, including her Best Actress Nomination at The Atlanta Film Festival in 2006.
Other credits include Austin Chick's "xx/xy" opposite Mark Ruffalo, which was released by IFC in 2003 and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival.
Additionally, she played the title role in Jason Ruscio's "Sam & Joe" (opposite Jeffrey Donovan), and received Best Actress Award at the 2003 Method fest. She also starred in a number of other independent and foreign films, such as Sherry Hormann's "My Daughter's Tears" AKA "Meine Tochter ist keine Moerderin", Derek Simonds' "Seven and a Match", Patrick Snee's "The Sleep Cure", and Chip Hourihan's "Glissando".
Her Television roles have included some of today's hottest drama's, among them the first season of Fox TV's smash hit "24" with Kiefer Sutherland and the recurring role of 'Alice' in the 2002-2003 season of ABC's "Alias" opposite Jennifer Garner.
Favorite Los Angeles theater productions include: Fernando Arrabal's "The Architect and The Emperor Of Assyria" and the one-woman show "The Human Voice" by Jean Cocteau.
Next up is the feature "I am Irreversible" directed by Johan Liedgren, which is scheduled to shoot in 2009.
